Mumbai: As thousands thronged the streets of Mumbai, India's first superstar Rajesh Khanna made his last voyage of the 'Aashirwad' darling in his house at Carter Road in Mumbai to Paramhans Vile Parle crematorium.
The fans threw flowers at the glass coffin in which the body was placed Khanna and went with the procession that carried the star. Accompanying the star on his last trip was his ex-wife, actress Dimple Kapadia, eldest son, brother Akshay Kumar Khanna Rinkee youngest daughter, her husband Sameer Saran and grand-son Aarav.
The funeral procession started out around 10:15 Thursday morning and reached the crematorium at about 11 h.
The last rites were performed by Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar's son, the Aarav. "Aarav lit the pyre and Akshay Kumar helped," the end of the superstar `s close friend Vijay Zaveri. Braving the rain, thousands of fans gathered to pay tribute to Bollywood Rajesh Khanna the first `superstar. Celebrities like Karan Johar, Rani Mukerji, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan were also present at the crematorium.
